Southern Maryland Islamic Center will hold a free community day of Fasting and Iftar 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday May 11, across from CalvertHealth Medical center.
Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection and charitable acts. The Calvert Interfaith Council, Daughters of Abraham of Southern Maryland, and the Southern Maryland Islamic Center invite everyone to participate in fasting, prayer, eating of dates/drinking water to end the fast at sundown (8:30pm), and brief prayer before sharing in the community potluck meal (no pork, please). Modest, comfortable dress; a scarf to cover the head is optional. Fast as possible. There is no charge to attend and bringing food is completely optional.
